Wonderful rare Victorian British Railway sign dating from 1850c

Made in Cast iron in excellent condition measuring 78cms width x 25cms height x 1cm depth.

Totally genuine and from the Railways act of 1845. The following is the text on the sign which can be found on Google BY 8 VIC. CAP. 20.S.75. which will tell you the source

In Victorian Times Britain led the world in Industry. The country had massive building of Railways. As they crossed the countryside there became a real worry of Livestock getting onto the railways so these signs were put up at crossing points and a fine of 40 shillings [ a fortune then ] made sure country folk closed the gates.
